On the second day of the Glasstech Mexico fair, Bertrand Cazes, Glass for Europe’s Secretary General, gave a speech on “Drivers of added-value glazing in buildings, Europe’s experience and way forward”.

In his speech, Bertrand Cazes presented the European glass industry’s vision which aims at generating sustainability, growth and added value across the whole glazing sector.

Beyond all trends in construction, the speech focused on three added-value levers most relevant to Europe: providing high energy-performance glazing, valorising glazing’s benefits in healthy buildings (light, comfort, acoustic properties, etc.) and pioneering sustainability in building glass. Europe’s industry is working hard and already providing innovative solutions that contribute to enhancing sustainability. Participants from all over Mexico and central America confirmed that growing sustainability concerns and glazing’s advanced properties are becoming increasingly relevant in the region and could be further exploited to champion glass in construction.

This year was the third edition of the Glasstech Mexico fair, which took place from July 19 to 21 at the Citibanamex centre in Mexico City. It gathered over 150 exhibitors from the glass, glazing and machinery part of the industry. With over 3000 participants attending the fair, it makes it the largest glazing industry fair in Mexico.
